About ASCP and the Center for Health Services Research:
The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is the world’s largest professional membership organization for pathologists and laboratory professionals. Our mission is to provide excellence in education, certification and advocacy on behalf of patients, pathologists and laboratory professionals across the globe. With more than 100,000 members, the society’s influence has guided the application and evolution of the pathology and laboratory medicine specialty since 1922.
The ASCP Institute is focused on health services research and delivery in regards to the use of laboratory diagnostics for improved patient care worldwide. The Center for Health Services Research (HSR) is focused on optimizing patient care and maximizing patient safety by identifying and analyzing evidence-based best practices for the use of laboratory diagnostics through the generation, gathering, assembling, and interpretation of data. By identifying and communicating these diagnostic best practices, HSR helps ensure improved accuracy and efficiency in patient diagnosis and care. The Center for Global Outreach (GO) improves laboratory diagnostic services globally through training and education.

Employees
Insurance – Full time (FT) and eligible part time (PT) employees, spouses and eligible dependents will be able to select the following coverages:
Medical & Dental – PPO Preferred Provider (Blue Cross Blue Shield of IL) coverage offered within the Café plan benefit program, as well as Delta PPO Dental coverage– Davis Vision discount benefits (and other vision discount benefits) are included with the PPO medical plan.
Vision and Life/AD&D – United HealthCare Vision is provided as a voluntary benefit.
Group Term Life with Accidental death and dismemberment benefits is Employer provided at 1x salary (max. of $50,000). Additional levels of voluntary life insurance available at time of hire or during open enrollment (subject to underwriting).
Time Off – [Vacation, Excused Time Off (ETO), Floating Holidays, Company Paid Holidays, Extended Leave time (Disability Bank)*]– Full time and eligible part time employees accrue Vacation and ETO on a bi-weekly basis. Any other leave time is credited per policy. Leave time is available for use after first 90 days of employment.
Employees are eligible for Company Paid holidays upon hire.
Employer pays for Short-term and Long Term disability coverage, in concert with plan eligibility & guidelines.
--Retirement Benefits
• TIAA CREF 401(a) Group Retirement Annuity (GRA Pension Plan) – The Society will make contributions on a monthly basis, for full time and eligible part time employees beginning on first paydate of following month after hire date. Contributions start at 1%, and cap at 8% rate. Vesting starts after one year of employment, fully vested at 5 years.
• TIAA CREF 403(b) Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (GSRA) – Employees can choose to have monies deducted on a pre-tax basis from their pay to increase their retirement savings and reduce their taxable income. Employees designate the amount to be deducted on a per-paycheck basis, up to the annual maximum allowed by IRS regulations.
For both 401(a) and 403(b) plan contract accounts contributions and investment earnings are tax deferred until withdrawal.
**Other Benefits**
• Flexible Spending Accounts – Up to $5,000 of pre-tax earnings can be set aside each calendar year in the Medical and/or Dependent Care accounts. The medical accounts can be used to pay for medically necessary expenses not covered by medical, dental or vision insurances. Dependent Care applies toward qualified day care expenses only. A debit card, used for Health Spending Acct. plans only, is provided.
• Educational Assistance – The Society provides paid educational leave for employees to attend job – related seminars and training. In addition, employees can be reimbursed on a prorated basis in the first year of eligibility, and then up to a maximum of $4,000, for Certification program courses, undergraduate courses, or graduate courses, while pursuing a formal program of study (requires prior approval).
